Happy Birthday to...

PAPPY!

I am blessed to have a hard-working, family oriented, fun and caring Christian man in my life who I can call Daddy. My dad is a great man, and not often enough do I tell him this! My children are just as blessed to call this great man Pappy! Macklan adores Pappy and loves helping him, and it won't be long before Hudson will be right behind him too!

Happy Birthday to you! We love you very much. As Macklan would say, "You're the BEST!"

Hudson, You're Three Months Old

Your three month old stats:

*You did not have a check-up this month, so Mommy did her best to weigh and measure you. You will have another check-up at 4 months!

wearing size 0-3 and some 3-6 month clothing and size 1/2 diapers.

a paci baby! Mommy ordered you some personalized pacifiers which you love.

a Momma's baby and love to nurse.

becoming stronger and stronger. You are doing great with tummy time and seem to think you're a big boy by trying to sit up all the time.

a grasper. You hold on to anything you can get your fingers wrapped around!

finding yourself in the mirror on your play mat.

great with eye contact and are very aware of your surroundings.

changing in your looks every single day! Since birth, Mommy has thought you look very much like your big brother. We get mixed reviews as far as you looking like Mommy or more like Daddy.

cooing loudly and even laughing (sometimes loud enough that you scare yourself!) Your sweet little giggle is one of Mommy's favorite sounds!

startled easily by loud or sudden noises which causes you to jerk or cry. You also bug your eyes out!

responding to facial expressions. If smiled at, you smile back.

beginning to rub off a circular spot of hair on the back of your head. It's from all the squirming you do!

noticing the TV. You watched your first Baby Einstein DVD and seem to enjoy Disney Junior while Macklan watches.

often dressed in outfits that your big brother also wore. This is very sentimental to Mommy.

sleeping through the night. You go to bed around 8:30 PM and wake up for an early morning feeding around 5:30 or 6:00 AM, but you have slept as late as 8:00!!! During the day you cycle through sleep and awake every couple of hours.

so happy during bathtime and seem to enjoy Mommy's singing. While she washes you, she sings "Jesus Loves Me", "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", and an original "Mommy Loves Me".

a good traveler. You went on your first overnight trip to Nashville to experience the Grand Ole Opry, and you visited WKU's campus for the first time.

a little spoiled. You like to be held just right, rocked when sleepy, within sight of someone, and talked to.

discovering your hands more and more. You love to suck on your fists...the drool is the proof! While in your carseat, you love to chew/suck on your puppy strap covers. They are usually soggy!

happiest in the morning. You laugh, coo, and sometimes snuggle in bed to wake your brother up when he's being a sleepy head. He loves it (and so do you)!

On this beautiful spring day, we took Hudson to WKU's campus and snapped his first picture by the E.A. Diddle statue just as we have been doing with Macklan for three years now.

And you might remember this Little Hilltopper from his early visits to Mr. Diddle...

Champion

Have you ever entered a contest where you hoped to win, but realistically thought, "I could never be so lucky,"? Well recently, we entered a Funny Photo Contest hosted by Champion Ford in Owensboro and I thought exactly that! It was advertised on their Facebook page and the guidelines/rules were really simple. Send Champion a funny photo and get the most "likes" by April 1st in order to win an iPad 2. So Scott and I recruited all our Facebook friends to vote for Macklan's funny photo which was quickly known as "Pants Down Baby". We were way behind the leaders when we entered the contest, but surprisingly we gained ground fast! When the announcement was made at 5:00 PM on April 1st, we were beyond excited:

1st Place...Macklan's photo...318 votes

2nd Place...235 votes

3rd Place...212 votes

Dreaming of Summer

Summer can't come soon enough for these little water bugs! The big kids had a great time swimming during our family weekend to Nashville, and the littles enjoyed watching from poolside.

Macklan and Briley didn't care what else we did while in Nashville...

as long as they got to swim! Macklan talked about it for two days prior to leaving and for the entire two hour drive. He wondered what shape the pool would be: circle, square, or rectangle? He believed it would be rectangular (and he was right), and he packed toys in his suitcase based on the answer to this question: "Is this a water toy?"

 

This one aspect of our weekend away provided so much pleasure. I loved watching them splash, laugh, swim, and play together. I had lots of great photo opts from Hudson's 1st "dip" in the pool to Hadley's many expressions, and plenty of splashes and "kid paddling" (a.k.a. doggy paddling) from Macklan and Briley as I watched these four adorable kiddos from behind my lens!

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

What a great weekend we had dreaming of summer and knowing that there will soon be many days spent splashing in the pool at Nana and Pappy's!

Puzzle Master

Macklan has gotten into a lot of cool and fun learning activities lately like letters and numbers, patterns, and PUZZLES! He worked his first 24 pc. puzzle independently and was so proud. He instructed me to take his picture and tell 100 of my friends about his beau-ti-ful Dora puzzle. So I did as I was told! Well, I took the picture anyway.

So proud of my puzzle master... :)

New Name

Macklan has been very interested in writing "words" lately. Today as he was writing and doodling on his chalkboard, he turned it toward me and matter of factly said, "Mommy, this is your new name."

"Oh, it is?" I questioned wondering what he would say next.

"F-E-M...what's that spell Mommy?"

"Fem," I said.

"Fem. Well, that's your new name!"
