And They're Off...

Dashing Dachshunds!

Yes, that's right. Long-haired, short-haired, dappled, black, tan, and red droppy-eared dachshunds anxiously awaited their turn in the spotlight at the 5th Annual Wiener Dog Races at Ellis Park. Four qualifying heats to crown one wiener winner. Some were sure-bet hot dogs and some were real long shots, but all-in-all they were all wieners!

Two excited kiddos waiting on the first heat of the morning to begin...

Macklan had to bring Whiffer along for the dog races. He was so excited to see all the dogs.

His new "arf arf"...a black and tan wiener dog named Hot Dog!

Two cute kids and two dashing dachshunds!

A Little L & L Time

Lunch
&
Layton

Finally, these two adorable little boys met face-to-face! At my ten year high school reunion, I was pregnant and so was my classmate Blake's wife. Blake and Brittany Richey were expecting a baby boy about a month after us. Since the births of Macklan and Layton, Brittany and I have enjoyed discovering our boys similarities as we stay connected through our blogs. Knowing that these two boys must meet, we finally made it happen (it only took us two years!). While in Bowling Green one day, Macklan and I met up with Brittany and Layton for lunch, a carousel ride, and a little shopping.

Macklan and Layton after enjoying their Wendy's lunch.

Ready for a ride on the carousel. It was so cute to watch them wait in line at the gate with their tokens clinched in their hands. They were immediate best buddies!

These eyes just melt my heart! Macklan preferred to ride in the sleigh seat rather than on a horse.

We had a great time with Brittany and Layton and can't wait to spend another day with them!

Gone Fishin'

All summer long Briley had been inviting Macklan to come fishin' with her at a little creek near her house, and on this particular day that is exactly what we decided to do.

The entire gang...

A couple of fishing poles...

A beautiful summer's afternoon...

Yucky, slimy worms and crickets for bait...and of course,

Rubber boots!

Peek-a-boo!!! Macklan started out just taking it all in; he wasn't too sure about it at first which seems to be how he approaches everything new.

Briley (the expert fisher-girl) showing Macklan how to hold a fish.

Getting a bite!!!

A little help from Nana on reeling in his big catch! Still warming up to the idea of fishin'...

Checking it out with Nana!

Our brave little fisherman decided to hold his catch...for a split second!!!

Then off it went back into the creek.
